Juno

Just arrived in New Jersey and it is my luck. The office will be closed tomorrow due to winter storm Juno. A blizzard is expected tomorrow night.

From the weather alert –
UPDATE 1: Winter Storm Juno to hit US Northeast late Jan. 25-27. Major transport disruptions likely from Washington to Boston.

From BBC news –
A “potentially historic blizzard” could dump up to 90cm (3ft) of snow on the US north-east coast, the National Weather Service (NWS) has warned.

“This could be a storm the likes of which we have never seen before,” New York Mayor Bill de Blasio said.

My New Phone

Yay, today I got a new phone, with this cute panda case on it. I am so happy!!! Today was also awesome at school, but I am feeling out because I have a TEST tomorrow even though I study for and hour. Plus, the day gets even better by spending another night with my dad and getting nice and cozy on the couch, with watching a movie. We’ll, of to my happy movie night. 🙂

Alex’ first Amazon review

Today Alexandra wrote here first review on Amazon as part of a school assignment… now that is something Mom and Dad definitely didn’t have in the curriculum.

3.0 out of 5 stars It is fine, but not worth it for me., January 22, 2015

Perplexes Original may look and sound fun, but for me it just gives me a major headache, and then you’re stuck in a car for another 2 hours. This is because if you can’t handle tiny moving objects, like me, then this will give you a headache. Also I wouldn’t get this because WOW, this is pretty expensive, if you ask me. I mean there is not only some cheap parts in it but gosh, it is so HARD to see through. First, you can get it all foggy, and then get it all greasy. Second, the round outer layer is made out of plastic, which is bad, because then if you drop it there’ll be a huge dent in the plastic, which means the silver ball won’t be able to get past there anymore. Lastly, there are some things that aren’t even possible to get through, which means you can really never beat the game. Plus, you can get annoyed and frustrated with the game very easily. Now here are some good sides to this game! First, if you don’t get car sick it’s a perfect toy to take. Also, if you are a person who gets bored a lot in the house, here is your new entertainment, if you don’t make a dent in it. Second, if you are looking for a birthday present, and you have nothing in thought, then this is the perfect gift! Lastly, this is one toy doesn’t make you want to get up, and do anything else, besides beat the game!!!

This is why Perplexes Original is good and fun, and also bad headaches get involved.

Exploring SĂŁo Paulo

Today I had some time to explore SĂŁo Paulo. A colleague from work had connected me with one of his friends and he helped me navigate the city. I visited a municipal market where vendors mainly sell food. There is a lot to eat as well and I really enjoyed it here.

I also got to see the old center and the church where SĂŁo Paulo was founded in 1554. It was a very busy area with many dancers, homeless people, street vendors.
Later in the afternoon I spent some time in the park and botanical gardens. This park felt like a Central Park in NYC. Lots of people running, roller-blading or having a picnic.

I was overdressed however which was not a good idea. It was very warm and I had only jeans and a suit with me. I was also lacking flip flops so I definitely stood out.

Tonight I fly home. The bad news is that the flight is 4 hours delayed so it leaves only at 4am.

Running a business…

Last Friday Alexandra had a sleep-over with her friend Juliette. Juliette also lives in Aliso Viejo so she’s literally just around the corner. Juliette and Alex set up a lemonade stand in Saturday. It was very successful: they had well over 40 dollars of revenue. They also tried to sell popcorn but Alex confessed they ate more than half of it themselves !

This week mom was on a ski-trip but the girls share an iPhone now. They can be in constant text contact with both of us now.

Starting of 2015 with some repairs…

Happy New Year !

The year has started with a need for the first repairs. The hard drive in our central home computer in Dad’s house started failing right on new year’s day. It’s fairly quick to fail since it has only been running for a few years. It is an excellent opportunity however for Alex to learn how to disassemble and reassemble a computer. Mac computers are notoriously hard to take apart because they use different types and sizes of screws. Luckily we have just the materials for that as well as a new SSD hard drive that is supposed to last for 15 years.
