Irvine Girls Win Section 11 Tournament 12/19/2013

The South Irvine Eagles, an AYSO Girls U10 Extra Team defeated Aliso Viejo 3-0 this past Sunday (December 15th) and made a little history at the same time, to win the Section 11 AYSO Extra Program Tournament Championship.

It is the first time a girl’s team from Irvine has ever won the Section 11 Championship. The Eagles journey to the title began Saturday with a 4-1 win over Ladera Ranch and a 2-0 shutout in a hard-fought game against a very talented and physical Tustin team. On Sunday, the Eagles defeated Long Beach which propelled them into the finals.

The Irvine girls saved their best for last and shut out Aliso Viejo 3-0 to win the championship.

Led by Head Coach Kym Watson and Assistant Coach Mascha Van den Berg, the Eagles will play for the AYSO State Championship title in Bakersfield March 15-16.
